A Decision Guide

Which Facial Should I Get?

An honest guide to choosing the right facial at Amber & Sage. We offer ten options — here's how to find the one that's actually right for you.

Pick by Goal Side-by-Side Table

If you're not sure what you want, our most flexible recommendation is the Personalized Éminence Facial (1 hour). It's customized to your skin that day, and your esthetician will recommend more specific facials for future visits based on what she sees. You can stop reading and book that — you'll be in good hands.

The Quick Answer

If you have a clear goal, here's the shortest possible answer to "which facial should I get?"

Want a quick refresh or lunch-break maintenance? → Express Facial

Want the all-rounder, customized to your skin? → Personalized Éminence Facial

Want immediately smoother skin and that "lit from within" glow? → Dermaplane Facial

Just the dermaplaning, none of the extras? → Single Dermaplane

Dealing with active breakouts or persistent acne?Acne Facial

Want serious texture refinement and pore reduction?Microderm Facial (full or express)

Big event in the next week? Need a hydration boost?Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial (8 variants — which to pick?)

Want gentle lift, sculpting, and the most relaxing experience?Glow and Sculpt Facial

Carry tension in your jaw, or want maximum lower-face lift?Buccal Facial Massage

Pick By Your Primary Goal

Most facial choices start with one of these questions. Here's where to land based on what you actually want.

"I want my skin to look better right away."

Best choices: Dermaplane Facial, Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial, Glow and Sculpt Facial.

All three produce immediate visible results — dermaplane for smoothness and glow, oxygen for plumpness and hydration, glow and sculpt for lift and definition. Choose based on what kind of "better" you want.

"I want consistent ongoing skin health."

Best choice: Personalized Éminence Facial, on a monthly cadence.

This is our most-booked maintenance facial because it's fully customized each visit. Your skin needs different things in different seasons, hormonal phases, and stress periods — the Personalized Éminence adapts every time.

"I'm dealing with active breakouts or acne."

Best choice: Acne Facial.

The six-step protocol (extractions + enzyme exfoliation + high frequency + red light) is built specifically for breakout-prone skin. Avoid dermaplaning and microderm during active breakouts.

"I want serious texture and tone work."

Best choice: Microderm Facial (1 hour).

For surface texture, pore appearance, fine lines, and mild sun damage. More aggressive than dermaplaning. For maintenance after an initial series, the Express Microderm keeps results going.

"I'm prepping for a big event."

Best choice (5–7 days out): Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial.

The same system Madonna popularized. Immediate visible plumpness, hydration, and glow that photographs beautifully. For maximum effect, build a small series in the weeks before.

"I want to relax and have my face look better."

Best choice: Glow and Sculpt Facial.

The heated neck pillow and cool jade comb sequence make this our most genuinely relaxing facial. Visible lift and sculpting without sacrificing the spa experience.

"I clench my jaw" or "I want serious lower-face lift."

Best choice: Buccal Facial Massage (2 hours).

Our standalone intra-oral facial massage service. Releases jaw tension and lifts the lower face in a way no surface treatment can replicate.

"I just want to try a facial without committing."

Best choice: Express Facial (30 min).

Same Éminence products, same consultation quality, just a shorter format. Great for first-timers, lunch-break refreshers, and maintenance between deeper visits.

Pick By How Much Time You Have

Pick By Budget

Real talk on what each price point gets you:

Budget-friendly

These are real facials, not stripped-down placeholders. Same Éminence products, same consultation, just a more focused 30 minutes. Excellent for maintenance, between-visit refreshers, and first-time visitors.

moderate to premium

Our "main course" range. Personalized Éminence, Glow and Sculpt, Express Microderm, and Dermaplane Facial all sit here. Full experience, no shortcuts.

moderate to premium

Our most substantive sessions: full Microderm, Acne Facial, and Buccal Facial Massage. These are session-and-a-half experiences with comprehensive multi-modality protocols.

Pick By Skin Concern

Sensitive or reactive skin

Best: Personalized Éminence Facial or Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial.

Both are gentle, non-mechanical, and use clean, organic products. Avoid: Microdermabrasion (mechanical exfoliation can aggravate) and Glow and Sculpt during flare-ups (dermaplaning can be irritating).

Acne-prone or breakout-active skin

Best: Acne Facial.

Multi-modality protocol designed for this. Avoid: Dermaplaning and microderm during active outbreaks (blade and diamond tip can spread bacteria).

Mature skin or visible aging

Best: Microderm Facial + occasional Dermaplane Facial. Add red light therapy as an enhancement.

For deeper lower-face lift, layer in Buccal Facial Massage sessions every 4–6 weeks.

Dehydrated or dull skin

Best: Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial.

The hyaluronic acid infusion produces visible plumpness that no topical product matches. Also great: Personalized Éminence with hydrating mask focus.

Hyperpigmentation or sun damage

Best: Microderm Facial series + Personalized Éminence with brightening Éminence products.

Surface pigmentation responds well; deeper concerns may need dermatology referral, which we'll tell you honestly.

Puffiness or fluid retention

Best: Glow and Sculpt Facial.

The cool jade comb work targets lymphatic drainage specifically. Same-day visible reduction.

Congested pores (blackheads, whiteheads)

Best: Acne Facial (extractions are core to the protocol).

Even if you don't have active acne, the comprehensive extraction-focused approach is the right tool.

Pick By Scenario

First time at a spa

Recommended: Personalized Éminence Facial.

Most flexible, most customizable, and your esthetician will use the visit to learn your skin and recommend specific facials for future bookings.

Pre-wedding (you're the bride/groom)

Plan a series over 6–8 weeks. Start with a Personalized Éminence to establish baseline skin health. Add 2–3 monthly Microderm sessions if you want serious texture work. Book the Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial 5–7 days before the wedding for maximum glow on the day.

Monthly maintenance

Pick one of the 1-hour facials and stick with it for 3–4 months to see compounding effects. Personalized Éminence, Dermaplane, or Microderm are all excellent. Alternate every other month if you want variety.

Lunch break or between meetings

Best: Express Facial (30 min) or Express Microderm Facial (30 min).

Milestone birthday or anniversary

Best: Buccal Facial Massage (2 hours) for the experience, or pair a 1-hour facial with a 60-minute massage.

Post-illness or post-surgery recovery

Best: Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial.

Gentle, non-invasive, immediately restorative. Wait for any acute medical clearance first.

Pregnant or nursing

Best: Personalized Éminence Facial, Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial, or Glow and Sculpt Facial.

All are pregnancy-safe with proper product selection. Tell us when you book so we can adapt accordingly.

Gift for someone, but you don't know their skin

Best: A gift card in a flexible amount. They'll choose what's right for them, and our gift cards are valid for 5 years.

Don't Forget the Enhancements

Any of our 1-hour facials can be extended with layered enhancements. These aren't separate services — they're additions that extend your session and amplify results:

Layered enhancements can push a 1-hour facial past 90 minutes. Your esthetician will recommend what's appropriate for your skin during consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't know which facial to choose?

Start with the Personalized Éminence Facial — our 1-hour signature service. It's our most flexible offering, fully customized to your skin that day, and your esthetician can recommend specific facials or enhancements for future visits based on what she sees.

Should I get a facial before or after my wedding?

Both, ideally. Build a series in the 6–8 weeks leading up to the wedding so your skin is at its best on the day. The Intraceuticals Oxygen Glow Facial is the most common pre-event choice — book it 5–7 days before for optimal results. Afterward, a Personalized Éminence Facial or Glow and Sculpt can be a perfect honeymoon reset.

How often should I get a facial?

For ongoing skin maintenance, once a month aligns with your skin's natural renewal cycle. For active concerns like acne or hyperpigmentation, every 2–3 weeks for a short series, then transition to monthly maintenance. For special occasions, schedule strategically — usually 5–7 days before the event.

Can I get a facial if I have active breakouts?

Yes — the Acne Facial is specifically designed for breakout-prone skin. Avoid dermaplaning and microdermabrasion during active breakouts (the blade or diamond tip can spread bacteria), and skip glow and sculpt for the same reason. The Acne Facial uses extractions, enzyme exfoliation, high frequency, and red light therapy — all appropriate for active acne.

What's the cheapest facial that's still actually worth it?

Our Express Facial. It's 30 minutes, uses the same Éminence Organic Skin Care products we use in every facial, and includes a real consultation, double cleanse, and skin-specific product application. It's not just a cleanse — it's a complete miniature facial. Great for maintenance between deeper sessions or for first-time visitors who want to try us out.

Can I combine two facials into one visit?

Sometimes, yes — with planning. We don't recommend stacking aggressive treatments (e.g., chemical exfoliation + microderm + dermaplaning in one session). But pairing a facial with an Éminence-based service or a massage is common. Text us in advance and we'll design the right flow.

I'm still not sure. Can you help me decide?

Yes. Text us at (423) 537-4221 or call (423) 218-2841 with what you're looking for — even if you can only describe it as "I want my skin to look better and I have a budget for one service" — and we'll recommend the right starting point.

Still Not Sure? Just Book the Personalized.

The 1-hour Personalized Éminence Facial is our default recommendation. Your esthetician will guide you from there.
