Things to know for each type of service.

❌ Avoid These Things Before a Facial:

  • Exfoliants (24–48 hours prior): Skip physical scrubs and chemical exfoliants (like AHAs, BHAs, or retinoids). They can make your skin too sensitive and prone to redness.

  • Retinoids / Retinol (at least 2–3 days before): These can cause irritation when combined with facial treatments.

  • Waxing or Threading (1–2 days before): It can leave skin raw or sensitive, and facials might worsen it.

  • Sun Exposure / Tanning: Avoid tanning beds and long sun exposure — sunburned skin should not be treated.

  • Heavy Makeup: Your esthetician will remove it anyway, and clean skin helps them better assess your needs.

  • Injectables / Fillers / Botox: Wait at least 24–72 hours post-injection before getting a facial to avoid unwanted pressure or movement of the product.

  • ✅ Bonus Tip:
  • Arrive with a clean face if possible — but don't stress, facials start with a thorough cleanse anyway!

  • ❌ Avoid These Before Waxing:

  • Exfoliating (24–48 hours before): Avoid scrubs, acids (AHAs/BHAs), or loofahs to prevent skin sensitivity or microtears.

  • Sun Exposure / Tanning (at least 24 hours before): Waxing on sunburned or freshly tanned skin = ouch + irritation.

  • Retinoids / Retinol / Acne treatments (3–7 days before): Especially for face waxing — these thin the skin and increase the risk of lifting.

  • Caffeine or Alcohol (day of): These can make you more sensitive to pain during waxing.

  • Moisturizers, oils, or lotions (day of): Clean, dry skin helps wax adhere better.

  • Shaving (at least 2–3 weeks before): Hair needs to be about ¼ inch long (grain of rice) for wax to grip properly.

  • Heavy Exercise (just before or after): Sweating can irritate freshly waxed skin and clog open follicles.

  • ✅ Bonus Tip:
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes to your appointment to avoid friction or irritation afterward.

  • ❗ Blood Thinners & Waxing:

If you're taking blood thinners (like aspirin, ibuprofen, or prescription medications), you may bruise more easily or experience increased sensitivity during and after waxing. The skin can be more fragile, and minor trauma from waxing might lead to visible bruising.

    ✅ What to Do:
  • Inform your esthetician before the service.
  • Avoid taking NSAIDs (like Advil or Aleve) as pain relief right before waxing — they can thin the blood.
  • Check with your doctor if you're on prescription blood thinners and want to wax regularly — especially for sensitive areas.

  • *Cancellation policy: Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged 30% (the deposit) of the service cost. No-call, no-show appointments will be charged 100% of the service cost. Appointments that are unable to be completed due any of the above conditions will still be charged at 100% of the cost of the service.
